APC hero is pleased to announce that it has entered into a distribution agreement with IB technology, a leading provider of RFID Reader solutions.

The 3-State Attenuated Switch is ideal for test & measurement applications in which high frequency signal attenuation is needed. The 3-State Attenuated Switch offers linear attenuation up to 25 GHz. Other features include low loss in the through path and a well-matched contact system which produces low reflection.
CCR-33K coaxial switch operates from DC to 33.5 Ghz
Description:
The latching single-pole, double-throw (SPDT) electromechanical switch offers an insertion loss repeatability of ±0.1dB across the full bandwidth. On narrow band applications, the insertion loss repeatability can be as good as ±0.05dB with ultra low PIM (Passive Intermodulation). Switch life is characterised at 5 million cycles.

Berlin,1st July 2008 - Nanotron Technologies, a leading provider of wireless location based solutions, today announces the successful integration of its 2.4 GHz nanoLOC TRX CSS radio chip into the new generation of Spotme PDA handheld devices manufactured by Swiss based Shockfish SA.
Spotme features state-of-the-art wireless handheld devices that are designed for supporting meeting and event management to ensure optimized information flow and conference productivity. With the integration of Nanotron´s robust nanoLOC TRX transceiver, the Spotme PDA enables conference participants to reliably locate business partners in a time pressured, fast-paced business environment. It is now possible e.g. to track who is attending individual sessions at a conference to correctly distribute continuous education credits. Thus, both conference attendees and event hosts benefit from the stream-lined process flow originating from the implementation of Real Time Location Systems (RTLS). Precise real time indoor ranging is a unique nanoLOC feature which cannot be achieved by conventional positioning techniques such as e.g. GPS systems. The devices have been successfully operated at several events with more than 100 people in an indoor conference environment. Accuracy of about 1- 2m with a range up to about 100m have been achieved. The Spotme devices include an RFID card reader, a color screen, a sliding keyboard, a wireless microphone and speaker in order to provide a range of services from participant networking to live voting as well as managing electronic feedback forms.
“The first generation of Spotme has been successfully used at conferences worldwide since 2001. However, with the ranging and location features from Nanotron´s nanoLOC TRX its successor has enabled rapid growth of Spotme’s business, convincing customers such as the high profile World Economic Forum, ICBI or Alstom”, says Dr. Frank Schlichting, Director Application Engineering at Nanotron Technologies GmbH.
“Participants simply expect the newest and best innovations in the world in order to plan their conference activities most efficiently. Spotme uses the latest advances in wireless communication technology to provide on-site communication services that facilitate real time networking and idea exchange. The advent of nanoLOC´s ranging capabilities provides a benchmark for modern wireless location techniques”, expresses Bänz Ledin, Managing Director at Shockfish SA.

Advanced Power Components Acquisition of Novacom Microwave Ltd
Advanced Power Components plc (AIM: APC), a specialist distributor and manufacturers` representative of electronic components, today announces that it has acquired the entire issued share capital of Novacom Microwave Limited (“Novacom”), a distributor and manufacturers’ representative for RF and Microwave frequency electronic components, for a maximum total consideration of approximately £1.6 million cash.
The consideration comprises approximately £400,000 for the estimated net assets, subject to adjustment for the actual value of the net assets on completion, and £700,000 for goodwill. In addition further payments of up to £500,000 will be made based on the pre-tax profit performance of Novacom during the 12 months following completion. Approximately £600,000 of the fixed consideration will be paid on completion, with the remainder to be paid in six equal quarterly payments over a period of 18 months. This acquisition will be earnings enhancing.
Novacom operates within a highly specialised sector of the electronics market, complementary to that of APC, focusing on the defence and communications markets. Novacom has built an excellent reputation in this market sector operating a similar business model to APC, utilising a successful ‘Design In’ approach, following projects from initial design through to production, and providing customers and suppliers with an effective support capability.
In addition, there is some commonality in the customer base that will offer design and cross-selling synergies from the combined product ranges. Novacom has a highly qualified sales team, with a number of individuals having extensive experience gained through senior positions at key RF and microwave organisations over the last 25 years.
In Novacom’s audited results for the year ended 31 December 2007, the 14 strong Lincolnshire based company generated revenue of £2.3 million, with net profit before tax of £220,000.
Mark Robinson, Chief Executive of Advanced Power Components, commented:
“Novacom is an excellent fit with APC’s existing businesses. This acquisition introduces new products and expertise, broadening our offering to customers and addressing new specialist markets. The ‘Design In’ strategy common to both businesses has helped to maintain margins during what has been a difficult period for the electronics distribution industry and we look forward to reporting on the continued growth of the Company during the second half of our financial year.”
